Course Description
New and prospective higher education administrators face a unique set of challenges in navigating leadership. This introductory course provides an overview of charting your course and meeting those challenges. We will cover faculty governance and transitioning to administrative governance, institutional research, and advances in ed-tech. This foundational course provides higher education leaders with insight to think more strategically, balance competing demands and multidimensional landscapes that influence and drive higher education governance

Overview of the Course
- Module 1 Transitioning from Faculty to Administrator: explores the critical steps faculty need to make the transition from a faculty to an administrator role and the skills that are needed to be successful there.
- Module 2 Reactive vs. Proactive Strategic Planning in Higher Ed: explores the importance of strategic planning for institutions and the tools Higher Education Administrators need to plan for the future of their program.
- Module 3 Pathways to Organizational Stability with Institutional Research (IE): has its roots in quality management and has to do with using data to assess, analyze and improve institutional data for improved programmatic and student outcomes.
- Module 4 Bringing it Together with Continuing Collaboration and Exploration: This module wraps up important topics on mentorship, upskilling, networking, and improving institutional research and strategic planning as the faculty member transitions into their higher ed administrator role.
